Verse of the Day

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. [Acts 20:24 – NIV]

The analogy between a race and our walk with God is used several times in the Bible, notably by Paul (in 1 Corinthians and 2 Timothy) and the author of Hebrews. But in today’s passage, Luke adds another nuance, to “complete the task that the Lord Jesus has given [us].” This probably seems like a no-brainer, but then we do need constant reminders of what is expected of us in our lives in Christ.

There is nothing more important than sharing the Good News. When we awake at the dawn of each new day, do we commit ourselves to “the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace?” Of all the tasks on our daily “to do” list, sharing the Word of God is at the top. Let’s get cracking!
